LCHS Teachers.com is a privately managed site and is not the property of Logan County High School.  I teach Algebra I and Honors Algebra at LCHS and two years ago I started a WordPress blog to communicate homework assignments to parents.  My site has a simple purpose, but parents really seem to appreciate being able to make sure their children are doing their homework.  With the help of my husband, I created this site so other teachers at LCHS could easily get a blog to improve communication with parents and/or students.  If you are a teacher at LCHS, come see me, Amanda Coursey, to get a blog.  You can have a functional site the day you talk to me.

Once you have a site, the possibilities are unlimited.  For example, on my site, www.amandacoursey.com , I also have an Online Learning page that links to Moodle .  Moodle is open source software (aka free and community developed) that allows you to create other avenues to enhance learning such as discussion boards, quizzes, and wikis.  I added this feature to my site in March 2008 and I’m just learning how to use it.  I can help LCHS teachers get started with this, too.

Having a web presence greatly enhances a teacher’s ability to communicate with parents and students.  In addition, the web offers avenues for tutoring and additional learning opportunities.  This site was created to make it easier for LCHS teachers to get started!
